NEW ORLEANS (AP)—The Hornets have signed journeyman guard Jason Hart(notes) to a 10-day contract because of an injury to shooting guard Marcus Thornton(notes).

A hard fall in the fourth-quarter of the Hornets’ loss to Oklahoma City on Wednesday left Thornton with a lower-back contusion that was expected to keep him out of Friday night’s home game against Philadelphia.

Thornton has been averaging 10.9 points. With Chris Paul’s(notes) knee injury, the Hornets will try to stay in the Western Conference playoff race without their starting backcourt.

Hornets coach Jeff Bowers says Thornton is day-to-day and has not been ruled out for the Hornets’ upcoming two-game road trip beginning in Charlotte on Saturday night.
