The Raptors have gone 15-5 in their last 20 games, and though the play of Chris Bosh(notes) has been an obvious reason for the team’s turnaround, coach Jay Triano points firmly to the Toronto bench as the reason for the recent success.
“When you look at our backups, you’ve got Jose [Calderon], who is a starter,” Triano said. “You have Antoine Wright(notes), who started in Dallas. Amir Johnson(notes), who started some games in Detroit last year. Marco [Bellinelli], who started in Golden State because of injuries—they’re all guys who have been starters, who are qualified to be starters but who have accepted a role of coming in off the bench and giving us a huge lift. That’s the strength of our team right now.”
